I think I have more questions now… like What else is Anna Faris in? Was Dean Lennox Kelly in the Beatles? How many films are passed over because they take place in a bathroom? And how do I get a time traveling girlfriend?
[Side note: be nice to Anna Faris or she might kidnap you and make you her husband. Unrelated: Stop back in 2028 for our review of Overboard!]
This film gave me Edgar Wright vibes. If the blood and ice cream trilogy had a time-travel film, it might be something similar to this… but probably better.
Time Travel movies are mostly nonsense, but this one handled the comedy pretty well. Chris O’Dowd, of IT Crowd fame, does a fantastic job playing… well, pretty much the same character he plays in IT Crowd.
While the film title sounds like it might be a documentary, the film is actually a Sci-Fi comedy and it has pretty much everything you need for a good time.
The basic plot: a group of friends are hanging out at the pub until one of them accidentally travels forward in time through a time-leak and sees himself dead in the pub. When his friends don’t believe him he attempts to take them with him and the trio ends up traveling forward in time only to realize they made a huge breakthrough and someone is trying to kill them.
They come back in time to save themselves, but can they? I mean, really, will it make any difference? Or will the cycle just repeat itself?
As with most Time Travel film things work best if you just smile and nod. They do a pretty good job answering your questions and keeping the… heh, timeline straight.
The acting is good, the story is fun, the special effects are about what you might expect. Nothing spectacular, but that fitting for the style of the film. If you’re a fan of time travel, Chris O’Dowd, or just need a silly film to watch, Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel is a great way to spend 140 minutes.
